Firm Family Favorite May 10, 2009 Talya (Anatot-Almon Israel) This book is so sweet, and the illustrations so beautiful and understandable even to the youngest eyes, that our whole family (kids ranging from 3 to 16) loves it. The drawings are done with a wonderfully light hand on the brush, and the colors are so natural that the whole thing just flows, and it is clear the artist loves the medium. This love spills over to the reader, effortlessly. A special kudo goes to the humor and empathy for the poor bear who ends up going home alone, dejected, at the end ...
Great rhythm, easy read! April 27, 2009 B. Diaz (Gardena, Ca) I remember reading this to the kindergarten class I was a TA for many years ago. The children enjoyed the rhythmic verses and the 'noises'. Now that I have my own 3 yr old I have added this book to her growing collection. It is the perfect size for her to hold in her hands as I read the story with her. The verses are easy to follow and the pictures are sweet. She just loves to read along with me as she has very quickly memorized it! I highly recommend this book for your 2-6 yr old!
Too small, Different story April 21, 2009 Diane I. Maxwell (Helena, MT) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As an Early Chilhood Educator for 27 years I was disapointed by the book. It is not the storyline I have ever heard. The book is very small (6x6) and bulky for a child to hold. The drawings are sweet but tiny on an already small book. I would never have purchased this book had I looked at it in the store.
Going on a Bear Hunt! April 14, 2009 Norma Filppula (Dollar Bay MI USA) This is a favorite book in our family. Great imagination and needed activity. The children love it!
Going On A Bear Hunt March 23, 2009 Stephanie M. Kelly (Florida Panhandle) I use to tell this story to my child. When I saw it was available here as a book I had to have it. Now my daughter reads it to her children. Wee ones love this story, especially if the narrator is animated during the telling of the tale. Swing their arms to 'Swish, swash' through the river and stomp their little legs to climb, all the while bouncing on your lap. Encouraging toddlers to love stories carries over in their lives. A love of reading sparked with imagination and a sense of humor is a helpful plus when raising happy adults. This book is a fantastic example and tool for the parent.
