Better than expected! March 15, 2010 Andrei Chendea I was surprised by how easy it was to create my own story as I was reading it to my two year old back then. Today I read it to my almost one year old and to my surprise she laughed when the wife turned on the light to find out who was in the room with her. I never forgot my daughter's expression as she giggled out loud. This book is for all ages and it is sure to be a classic and a highly recommended book.
My son loves this book, it's an over and over again read. March 1, 2010 Christina Gruettner (Wisconsin) This is a wonderful few word but great story book. My son received this book when he was six months old and I have since replaced it because the pages got so worn out from constant reading and looking at the pictures. He loves this story and it has also helped him learn animals. Great cute book to add to any collection.
My son's all-time favorite book! February 21, 2010 H. Nelson (ND, USA) My son just loves this book -- it has been his favorite ever since he was about a year old. He is now about 2 1/2 and still wants me to read it to him. He loves to tell me what's going to happen next and says things like..."Oh, no...the gorilla took the keys!" or "Oh, no...the gorilla let the lion out!" I have recommended this book to many friends and have given as a gift. There isn't a lot of text, but the graphics are great -- like I said, my son just loves this book.
Good Night Gorilla February 16, 2010 Anita (Australia) My 3 year old son loves this book. It doesnt have many words but the illustration is just wonderful and describes a million words.
Terrific, unconventional storybook February 15, 2010 D. Spillane (Brooklyn, NY USA) This is a perennial contender for inclusion in storytime with my daughter. Unlike most children's books, this story is driven entirely by the images. At first I was perplexed about how to tell the story -- hey, there's nothing here to read! Then I got into the spirit of it, drawing out what was happening from each image, adding dialogue, talking about what was happening and where the characters were going, etc. It's a lot of fun. The story is largely the same each telling, but it's always a little different since you aren't using the same text each time. Each page has enough detail and surprises (e.g., the balloon that appears on each page, however tiny) to reward returning to the book again and again.
I highly recommend this book as part of every parent's storytime library.
